I am having same issue. It takes longer than import-osm. This is for extract for a small region.

I opened this issue in Mapbox gl js. Can anyone give me direction how this can be solved to support Devanagari letters

 This vowel character is supposed to go in front of the consonant. More details can ne explored here in Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devanagari  I also found this line is commented...

I am using Khula font. It is public in [Google Khula Font](https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Khula?preview.text=%E0%A4%B2%E0%A4%B2%E0%A4%BF%E0%A4%A4%E0%A4%AA%E0%A5%81%E0%A4%B0%20%E0%A4%9C%E0%A5%8D%E0%A4%9E%E0%A4%BE%E0%A4%A8%20%E0%A4%95%E0%A5%8D%E0%A4%B7%E0%A5%87%E0%A4%A4%E0%A5%8D%E0%A4%B0%E0%A4%BF&preview.text_type=custom&query=khula). It renders properly in text. I have tried other fonts that support Devanagari but maplibre-gl.js does not have...
