Search within post comments
In Apollo, I would frequently search within comments of a given post to see if other users had already mentioned what I had in mind.
Credit goes to Deemo for their /c/voyagerapp post for reminding me of the feature. I liberated the Apolloscreenshot below from their post.
The screenshot looks like it's from the iPad version of the app, which I never used. My memory of th iPhone app was that the "Find in comments" text input was at the bottom of the screen vs the top.
Thanks again Voyager team.
This would be cool. Definitely a huge undertaking, however!
+1 I'd like to add, though, from a UI perspective I don't think "find in post" should be buried in the overflow menu. Rather, I think users who are viewing a post would expect that the big button at the bottom of the app that says Search would search in the post they're currently viewing.
So I suggest that, if the user is viewing (the comments page of) a specific post page, then clicking the big Search button would open a text field that would search in the current post's body & comments. Additionally, next to the input query text field, there should be a button that gives the user the option to do a "wide search" across the entire community, instance, or lemmyverse.
My point is that, if the user is viewing a post and hits the search button, it should be 1 tap to search within that post. It should be two taps to do a search outside that post. Because that's what the user would expect.
