I don't believe this was a feature of Apollo.

Additionally, a concern I have is it will be inconsistent how to display. For example, on my profile, I don't want every single time I see my username for it to be a certain color.

But on a post it would be a certain color.

This is inconsistent behavior.

If you're an admin doesn't every post on your profile show as red; is that really an issue?

Yes, but the # of people who are admins is quite low :)
