Shake to reset sleep timer seems inconsistent (and not very sensitive).
Steps to reproduce
- Turn sensitivity to very high
- Have the audiobook running, with the timer running out
- Tip the phone a bit so it rocks.
- It won't reset, most of the time. Other apps, it would be enough (on high sensitivity).
- Sometimes I can even pick the phone up and shake it around, and it'll still continue to fade away in volume!
Expected behaviour
It should stop fading and reset the timer.

Strange, I'm not able to reproduce that. When sensitivity is set to very high on my device it is very sensitive. On very low sensitivity I have to physically shake the device to get it to reset. Can you test this again and make sure you were on very high and not very low? There is a slight delay between resets, like 5 - 10 seconds around there.
It intermittent on my phone. Always has been. It will stop registering shakes and the sleep timer will count down to zero.
Galaxy fold 4. Stock. Current as of 0.9.66
But I've had this problem since day 1 with the app, like 6 months now. Smart audiobook player doesn't have the same issue.
Hard to reproduce because it always happens when the timer is set to 10 or 15 minutes. And it fails as the audio volume is lowering in the last 30 seconds.
It actually just failed again as I am writing this comment with 7 minutes left on the timer. Messing with the settings related to shake to reset did nothing. Had to pause and restart the audio to get it working again. I didn't need to restart the app.
I'm having it happen again atm, and I'm on a Z-Fold5 (and the screen is closed) so I wonder if it's something that's glitching related to the app running while a foldable phone is closed?
The app works decently well on the fold5 cover screen (which I'm sure is accidental haha but still good).
I've noticed similar behavior the last couple of nights (usually just let it stop at the end of the first timer, so my first impressions).
The shake to reset has worked the first time the timer ends every session by tilting my phone around a bit (do not need to shake). After this first reset, I cannot get the sleep timer to reset even with shaking during the same session, even if I disable the sleep timer and enable it again (without closing the app).
Could there be something preventing the check a second time?
Medium sensitivity 15 minute timer Single long m4b (local)

The shake sensitivity is definitely unreliable. And even on the highest setting, you need to pick it up to activate it sometimes, and even shaking it won't do it. Sometimes. Very inconsistent.

Just tested this on a Pixel 6 Android 13 app v0.9.66 and wasn't able to reproduce any inconsistency.
Here is a quick test:
- Start playing an audiobook (single file or multi doesn't matter).
- Set a custom 1 minute sleep timer
- Set the device down until the sleep timer expires
- Shake once it expires and see the timer resets
- Set the device down and repeat on expire OR shake anytime for it to reset again.
As for the sensitivity this is probably device specific but on the Pixel 6 setting it to "Very High" will reset the timer when picking it up. Even picking it up very slow and carefully is hard not to trigger the reset. Medium seems to be the sweet spot for Pixel 6
]I'm on a brand new z flip 5. And I also use Listen Audiobook Player with the same shake to wake feature, which doesn't have sensitivity issues. The problem is definitely with the audiobookshelf app. It may be that it has a bug regarding Samsung devices, or with being used in the background on the cover screen.

The 5 step test I sent doesn't work the same for you?
The first two shakes it reset easily. Then on the third minute I picked it up and shook it around as hard as I could but it carried on fading out. Am typing on the phone now and it's still not restarting.

I have also noticed this.
- Sometimes the shake doesn't reset the first time I try to shake after it starts to fade.
- Sometimes if I reset too many times (more than an hr at 5min) it won't reset.
- Sometimes if it goes down to 0 and I shake after it pauses it will resume but then it won't reset again.
I'll keep testing but its very hard to reproduce consistently. I just tested for the last 15min using a 1min timer and once it stopped resetting now I cant get it to work again even after closing and reopening the app.
I have a Samsung Note 20, and I also have issues with shake sensitivity. Other apps like Smart are extremely sensitive, but with ABS I actually have to hold my phone and flip my wrist to trigger.
