Android - A faster way to resume playback

Open nirurin opened this issue 1 year ago • 4 comments

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

When I go to bed and go to resume playback on my book, I have to open the app...then select the book...then scroll down to "stream" and press that, in order to bring up the player and press play to listen.

Describe the solution you'd like

On every other audiobook app, the default first screen is the player. Press play to start book. Immediate. It shouldn't take multiple steps,to do the thing that the app is designed to do 99% of the time.

Describe alternatives you've considered

All other audiobook apps already do it.

I know audiobookshelf is also a bookshelf, but that can be available from the hamburger menu. Or just have the player as an always-on pop-up at the bottom of the screen.

Additional context

Add any other context or screenshots about the feature request here.

The app used to do this (auto open the player at the bottom of the screen), but this caused some sync and crashing issues. This is planned to be added back in sometime in the future

Autoplay when the app is opened would take it even a step further.

I convinced my Mother to mostly switch over to my Audiobookshelf server from Audible. This is also one of the first(and the biggest) thing she didn't like about it. I think if someone is able to add it, it would bring great value to Audiobookshelf.

Really hope it will implemented, opening directly the player on the latest book would be great!
