could you make it so when you hover over the cat it sets cursor: grab and then lets u pet the cat and it does u a little <3 or something. i think that would be cute

This is difficult to balance as I want minimal configuration and minimal obstruction. If the cat is over a clickable element (which is likely to happen) it lets you click through it. I'd want to make this optional.

I'd also want sprites for this, I'm not a great pixel artist so if someone wants to see this happen and makes the art for it I'll consider implementing it as an optional feature.

I think it should be if you click the cat anywhere it gets pet, but it also clicks underneath the cat so you can still click links and things.

Petting could be some kind of repeated mouse move over the element. This wouldn't interfere with anything clickable.
