Desk Light with Presence

Open adonno opened this issue 5 years ago • 2 comments

When I leave my office desk I sometimes happen to forget to turn off my Desk LEDS. Since I have some GOSUND SP1 laying around I can use on of these on the power supply

Have to find a way on how to detect the presence. The desk has 3.6m length and fits 2 people.

Could you use a combination of energy and a distance sensor? https://twitter.com/jamescallaghan/status/1278250510613708805

Or even a little script that runs during lock and unlock? https://twitter.com/jamescallaghan/status/1234263753321046019

script can't be used since I'm mostly on VPN and I don't have admin rights to that machine thought about it distance sensor might do the trick then again I have to check if I can see a difference between the empty seat and me in the seat and add a 5 min delay before turning off the lights then.

maybe hack an Aqara Zigbee open/close sensor and make it work when I sit in the chair ... At least battery life would be better than with an ESP
