Edge and Flash

The command "install_wim_tweak /o /c Adobe-Flash /r" doesn't work in 1809.

Confirmed, flash is still present in the control panel

I did some digging and here's what I discovered.

In 1809, Flash is no longer a package. It can still be removed by deleting its files but I don't know what would happen when Windows tries to update it. Last year a similar problem broke Windows Update completely so you're doing this at your own risk. If you want to try, you have to delete the following:

  • C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed
  • C:\Windows\System32\Macromed
  • C:\Windows\SysWOW64\FlashPlayerApp.exe
  • C:\Windows\SysWOW64\FlashPlayerCPLApp.cpl

If you want, you can also delete the registry keys pointing to Flash.ocx so applications won't think that flash is installed.
