Issue with U+63B0 掰

Open NightFurySL2001 opened this issue 2 years ago • 1 comments

This is a 通用规范汉字表 1st level character (一级字) and Big5 2nd level character (次常用字). image

Affected regions are CN and HK. (KR is out of scope)

  • The middle 分 in CN should have been a curve down throw stroke (捺,乀) instead of a curve up dot (点,丶).
  • The left 手 in HK should have a hook instead of a left curve. image Edit: more refs CN 《通用规范汉字表》 image HK 《香港電腦漢字參考字形》(do note that this document is not authorative source of glyph shapes) image

Action: fix uni63B0-CN (/19185) 分, add new CID for HK. JP/KR can still map to CN as the different 手 in TW/HK is more significant than the 分 throw stroke.

EDIT 2023-08-11: In light of this, forget about restoring the v1 JP glyph for TW. If the JP glyph was restored for TW in the source, undo the change as it's not needed for JP/KR, and we might probably see it in a separate unreleased/removed overlapping sources instead.

~Late reply: While not relevant, there was a JP glyph in v1 of Serif which looked similar to the TW glyph. Because of this, I would ask Adobe instead to restore (for Serif) the v1 JP glyph to replace the TW glyph as per issue #414 about making consistent the length of the top part of 分 between JP/KR and TW locales.~

~And I can even bet there is an unreleased JP glyph for Sans that didn't make it to v1. I would like to include that JP glyph to replace the TW glyph on the next release as well. Then the JP glyph can be mapped to JP, KR and TW locales for both fonts.~
