Implement Search Filters by Tags, Author, Genre, and Shelf
Currently, searching through the library is limited to basic text matching. Users need more advanced filtering options to easily find books by tags, author, genre, or assigned shelf.
Add filter dropdowns or sidebar filters to allow users to:
Filter by tags
Filter by author
Filter by genre (if supported)
Filter by shelf/library
This will significantly improve usability for large libraries.
Just to clarify: Booklore already supports global search via the top bar, and both libraries and shelves include search boxes and sidebar filters where you can filter by author, tags, categories (genres), and shelf.
Are you looking for a different kind of filtering experience, like multi-select dropdowns, saved filter sets, or something more advanced? Happy to explore improvements if you have something specific in mind!
You're absolutely right — BookLore already offers solid filtering capabilities across libraries and shelves, and I appreciate the thoughtful design of the current system.
What I had in mind is more about enhancing the existing filtering experience to make it even more powerful and user-friendly for large collections. Specifically, I was thinking of features like:
Multi-select dropdowns (e.g., filtering by multiple authors or tags at once)
A unified filter panel that allows combining filters (tags + author + shelf, etc.)
A clear visual display of active filters with the ability to remove them individually
Optionally, the ability to save common filter sets for quick access
These enhancements would help users quickly narrow down large libraries with more precision and flexibility.
If this aligns with the project's goals, I'd be happy to help draft or implement a solution. Just let me know your thoughts!
Is there a way to filter by genre? That's the big one I think is missing (or I can't find it)
