Metadata manually updated and embedded outside Booklore isn't refreshing.
I have noticed that when I manually change (and embed)books metadata outside of the booklore it will only pick it up if I delete the library and add it again (and even that it will not do it with all books that have been edited). Is it a bug or a feature? Do changed metadata get picked up while rescan library or is it not implemented at all?
Currently, Booklore does not rescan or re-embed metadata from existing files during a library rescan, only newly added files are detected and processed. So what you’re observing is expected behavior, not a bug.
That said, your use case is completely valid, and I can definitely add an option to force a full metadata re-scan for all files in a library.
⚠️ Please note: Enabling this will overwrite all existing metadata, including any edits you’ve made manually or via the UI, with newly extracted data from the file itself. This behavior will be clearly indicated in the UI when the option is available.
That would be a great option to have. This is only one of two things that I miss in your app. Second one is a Polish metadata source. We have "Lubimy czytac" that I have seen someone managed to make a software to get data from.
Adding a plus one to this feature request. A force re-scan is my only remaining blocker before I can use it more widely. I'm currently forced to drop and re-add the library from time to time to catch up with updates made to the source book share.
Plus one from me too.
⚠️ Please note: Enabling this will overwrite all existing metadata, including any edits you’ve made manually or via the UI, with newly extracted data from the file itself. This behavior will be clearly indicated in the UI when the option is available.
If the "Write Metadata to File" option is enabled then shouldn't all the metadata from UI edits already be in the files anyway? This combo would allow two-way (or more) sync of metadata between different software viewing and editing metadata.
I have been using the Write Metadata to File option to have any metadata edits from Booklore picked up by other software (like Kavita) and its been really useful.
