Bookdrop meta data suggestions are empty
Bug Report Template for Booklore
What happened?
I am not getting any metadata suggestions in the bookdrop dialogue; the fields provided for this are empty and the cover cannot be displayed either. The import itself works and I can then select the eBook in my library and query the metadata manually.
How can we see it happen?
Steps to reproduce the issue:
- Open Booklore and go to bookdrop
- re-scan
- click on the meta data preview drop down
What did you expect to happen?
I expected to see meta data suggestions

Anything else we should know?
I don't think it's a permission issue because, as I said, I can retrieve all metadata (Amazon, Google, Goodreads) in the library itself, and importing and managing works perfectly.
The red warning icon displays the following message: "fetched meta data hasn't been applied. Open meta data picker to review".
Same problem. I can also manually query metadata, but it doesn't work in bookdrop.
I am also facing the same problem with he latest build.
Does auto-fetch not work either? I'm new to booklore, so I don't know how it's supposed to behave but it doesn't seem to work correctly.
If I open book details, and click Auto Fetch (with a 73% match), it says 'Batch metadata fetch successfully completed!' but it doesn't update any metadata. If I manually go to the Search Metadata tab, I can pick the book and use the arrows to save accurate metadata.
I wonder if this is related to the bookdrop metadata problem.
Howdy, this happened to me, and I looked in the logs. Turns out it was errors relating to using Amazon.com to pull metadata. I get most of my info from Google, Goodreads and Hardcover, so I disabled Amazon and this allowed the book drop to populate since it wasn't getting stuck with Amazon anymore. Though I will say I usually just import and manually select because I haven't spent enough time weighting the different sources yet.
Disabling Amazon fixed it! Thanks nwskier. I haven't tried adding the optional amazon cookie yet, I wonder if that would make Amazon metadata work.

What and where specifically did you disable this? In the Metadata 1 menu, I unchecked Amazon but still have no metadata in Bookdrop.
If I import the file and manually set the Title and the Author, it turns into "zero bytes" file in Bookdrop library folder.
I disabled Amazon in metadata1 and clicked the save button. Are you sure it disabled after clicking the Save button? I was experiencing a bug that made the 'uncheck' not save unless I restarted the docker container. It might be fixed in v1.12.0 according to the release notes. (https://github.com/booklore-app/booklore/pull/1624)
I also set all 1st priorities to Goodreads in Metadata 2. I don't know if that's necessary, but that's what I did.
Bookdrop is not working at all. What am I doing wrong?

@robuck86
I don't know, but that's the same problem I was having before I disabled Amazon. I just now tried re-enabling Amazon (to keep it for manual searching) and keeping the 1st priorities to GoodReads and it still works for me. So I don't think it's necessary to disable it completely. I've only been trying Booklore for a week so I really don't know anything about it.
Looks like it was a folder permission issue related to Qnap. It is working now. I had to do the following:
sudo chmod -R 777 /share/media/files/Booklore/Bookdrop sudo chmod -R 777 /share/media/files/Booklore/Books sudo chmod -R 777 /share/docker/appdata/booklore/appdata
