Some issues with the preview

The preview is very nice since it uses the Windows native preview. It is fast for most file types. Here are some issues:

1. I am using the pdf Xchange to preview pdf files. But the FS shows a black box on the preview pane. It works well in the Explorer.
2. For "Preview on file manager", the preview window jumps it's position after the first flash. I haven't figured out where it should be. Hope the preview window could be in the center of the screen. Like the Quicklook.
3. Hope the preview could work on the Desktop and in the Everything, like the Quicklook.

Can you please check if you can open these PDF files using Microsoft Edge?

Does the window not appear at all? Can you try enabling Open at center in Settings -> Preview -> Interactions. It should make the preview open at screen center.

Hope the preview could work on the Desktop and in the Everything, like the Quicklook.

I will make the preview work on desktop, and as you might know you can use it in Fluent Search as well by pressing ALT or using the middle mouse click on any result (including QM). Integration with Everything is not planned at the moment.

I have the same issue as OP with pdf preview (testing with QM). On testing, I can open these pdf files using Microsoft Edge. PDF preview works in File Explorer. I thought the problem might be with the Edge setting "Always download PDF files" but I get a black box in FS preview either way.

I also get the black box when the FS preview setting is FS or QuickLook (I have QuickLook installed and running and it works outside FS).

Yes, it can be opened with Edge.

The window appears, but jumps it's position. Enabling 'Open at center' doesn't solve this issue, and sometimes the final position is not at center.

@ligq @cobblepot1 can you check if web preview works for you in general? You can try search for Google result in FS and press ALT. If it shows black screen as well, can you try install Microsoft Edge Web View from here - https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?LinkId=2124703

Web preview works well. I installed the Edge Web View long time ago.

I don't know how to test web preview. When I use the 'web' tag in FS and put in a search term, I don't see results to preview. I see search engine options and when I click on one, it opens the search in my browser.

Just type any website, no need of 'web' tag, then press Alt to preview the website.

Now the PDF preview works. But the Office files do not work, only show the thumbnails.

Thank you for your quick fix. Hope in the future it can use the "native" preview for pdf files. The PDF Xchange preview is much faster than the Edge.

pdf preview display is incomplete
