markdown preview doesn't display animated gif properly

Describe the bug

• when previewing markdown files in the preview pane, an embedded animated gif like: ![image](mypic.gif) will be displayed as a static image rather than an animated gif.
• the same gif works fine in the preview pane (it plays the animation) when we preview it directly via the results list as a file. The issue only occurs for embedded gifs inside markdown files.
