High CPU usage on Windows 11

Open undecomposed opened this issue 3 years ago • 9 comments

I originally replied to issue #290 but I don't think it got the ticket re-opened, so maybe I will submit a new one:

I wanted to maybe have this reopened. I don't have it running at up to 10% CPU, but FS consistently runs at 2.5-6% CPU on idle. I have followed the suggestions above to disable Search in app content and Process screen in background, without results. On occasion, in background, FS will run up to 16% CPU. Is there anything I can try or submit to help troubleshoot this?

Edit: Here is a capture from Performance Monitor. For some reason you can also see consistent CPU spikes of up to 97% when on idle. image

Can you please check if when "Gaming mode" is enabled it doesn't consume as much CPU? (enabled through system tray) Also can you share which CPU is it?

@adirh3 if you mean the setting for Gaming Mode then yes, it appears to be enabled: image

And here is the CPU: image

@undecomposed Sorry didn't explain it right - image I mean this, in Fluent Search system tray menu, it should stop all background almost all activities and not respond to hotkeys, if you still see high CPU usage when this enabled it will help me find the issue

Hey. Wanted to confirm that with Gaming mode enabled FS still consumes up to 1.7% CPU at idle. Anything I can get you to look into what it's doing?

When you said high CPU usage you meant up to 16% right? Can you try disabling Settings -> Processes -> Search in app content, and see if CPU usage is not going above 3%? Will check why it has high idle CPU with gaming mode enabled.

I did have that disable back then, and have it disabled right now.

Interesting, which hotkeys do you have configured in FS? Also, do you use Instant Search?

I had the same issue. My CPU was idling around 7% (11th gen Core i7-11800H)

Disabling "process screen in background" solved my issues. Now fluent search idles around 0.1%

grafik

If this is enabled by default, it maybe shouldnt.

Thanks for sharing, it isn't enabled by default, but I will remove it as it's not really necessary anymore.
