Went through 2 out of 3 chapters, and I can tell you that I learned more from it than "Designing Data-Intensive Applications" book. While the second book is focused more on the tech stack, the first also talks about data engineer role and how it can be different depending on enterprise data maturity. It also goes over the history and evolution of the data engineer role and more... Check the screenshot below.
