Reading of 3D model formats

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened this issue 9 years ago • 2 comments

There are free graphical tools that may be used to build 3D models of
scatterers (consisting of one of may be a few domains). It would be
convenient if ADDA can directly read at least one of the common formats
produced by these tools.

Moreover, it will give a performance bonus, since rather expensive filling
of the computational grid from the 3D model can be done in parallel by ADDA.

Several workarounds exist - https://github.com/adda-team/adda/wiki/FAQ#how-to-simulate-light-scattering-by-a-particle-which-shape-can-not-be-described-by-any-of-the-adda-predefined-shapes but we may still want to incorporate it inside the main ADDA code at some point.
