Android 9 + Kodi 19.x can't play docu's

Open dvdh80 opened this issue 2 years ago • 1 comments

I have a box with Android 7 and a box with Android 9, but on the 9 I can't watch all videos with Kodi 19.x, especially the documentaries... Only 18.x plays all videos on my Android 9 box (no matter which addon). I also tried the recommended 2.5.10 addon. This is what happens: https://youtu.be/_ZGZiTbJdxk

So the docu doesn't start, but when i return to the main screen and press 'return' again I can see the video playing a black screen without sound.

I can't find a log-file. location should be: https://i.ibb.co/c8qggcY/1651349712737.jpg but nothing to find: https://i.ibb.co/NCZRSRd/1651349698457.jpg

I guess this is related to Widevine DRM protection. And most likely this is not a VRT NU Add-on problem. Most international documentaries and series on VRT NU are encrypted to prevent copying. To play these protected files, your Android box needs to support a certain level of Widevine decryption. You can check the Widevine DRM information with https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.androidfung.drminfo

I guess VRT NU livestreams also fail to play?

To investigate I need more info about your Android 9 hardware or the output of the DRM Info app.
