This maybe not work for others... Couldn't you build your lookup list on whats stored in the software directory. I download the software once I have identified which patching updates I am going to apply across my fleet. So the software I want to use will be downloaded to this directory before I look at running your script. So if you stick to the naming convention such as the one that you use then you could use this folder/file structure when getting/applying either the latest or a specific update to apply

I think it would be best, to find the updates on a website! I know of a couple of sites that keep these:
