Can not switch audio to HDMI or S/PDIF
Not all audio devices are show.
For example HDMI and S/PDIF are not in the selection list.
I can only select onboard audio device (currently headphone connected)
My monitor audio is via HDMI.
I will try to have a look. I am able to reproduce a similar issue with my HDMI graphics card.
A similar issue occurs with Bluetooth headsets, as they can have different configurations, either A2DP for high quality audio output, or HSP/HFP for lower quality audio but with microphone support. This is shown in the GNOME settings as a separate down-down list:
When the HSP/HFP mode is selected, the headset becomes available for use as an input device. I think it would be nice if the extension would also switch the input device whenever possible.
Otherwise, great extension! Much appreciated! :+1:
Just wanted to bump this issue. I have the same problem with a USB DAC and monitor speakers via HDMI/Display Port
Looks like anduchs worked on this issue on branch ports2. The code is pretty old and might not work on the latest version of GNOME. At the moment I will not be able to work on this issue, but I'll accept pull requests.
I think it would be nice if the extension would also switch the input device whenever possible.
There is another project that handles input, I want to keep this extension as simple as possible.
Hi I was wondering if this issue was still being worked on? I cannot output to an HDMI source when docking my laptop. I did try the branch you linked to that older code and it works great.
On Ubuntu 20.04.3 (Gnome 3.36.8) I can confirm @nnleaf 's statement. The ports2 branch works well with HDMI output,
It looks like the ports2 branch is not compatible with gnome 42 and I still can't see the HDMI output on the master branch.
