Automatic update checking for non-core framework plugins

Would be nice to be able to specify a git repo for non-core plugins, and be able to use the 'check for updates' functionality.

Would need to think about how this looks in the tool - would ideally need some kind of visual differentiation from the core plugins so as to tell them apart.

Hi Tom, I get the idea behind this, but this could be a tricky one, as non-core plugins are probably not publicly accessible, which means we'd then we go into the realm of storing SSH keys, etc, which would complicate things.

Understandable. Perhaps if we support only open-source plugins?

Maybe we park this somewhere until we overhaul the page.
