Use of custom variables in .cfg and base.html

I would like to see the ability to add custom variables into the config file, and then place those variables into the base.html.

Use case: I am working on putting together a landslide template for our company. It would be nice and easy for each person to only have to adjust the values for a couple variables in the config file to have their name, event name, etc, for them to display (pre-styled) in the presentation.

If something like this is already available, please provide instructions on how this can be done.
