Add capability to add one full layer of material at a time

Currently when material is added following the scan path we add material a fixed amount ahead of the heat source. To reduce the number of times we add material, it would be beneficial to add one layer of material at a time (perhaps also allowing it to be added in the "powder" state so that we have control over the material properties.
