High CPU usage in Vivaldi web panels

Open greydonfoil opened this issue 6 years ago • 2 comments

Vivaldi browser (pretty good fork of Chromium) has a feature called web panels that act as small collapsible browser frames. When the frame is closed it should use little to no CPU.

When Markdown-Here is enabled, closing a frame results in CPU usage for that frame to jump to 100% or close to 100%.

To reproduce:

  • Install Markdown-Here in Vivaldi
  • Create a web panel using the "+" on the left
  • Open and close the web panel and watch CPU usage with the Task Manager (Shift+Esc)
  • Disable Markdown-Here and CPU usage will return to normal

Thanks! Probably low-priority as Vivaldi isn't as common as Chrome/Firefox.

This is a problem with Vivaldi's panels as far as I can see - they have abnormally high CPU usage on any page.

Have the same problem, and the CPU usage returned to normal after disabling Markdown here.
