Hi @cssatkmd, The .NET 8 and 9 sdk versions for both Ubuntu and Windows have already been updated in the images. To update the .NET 9 version on Ubuntu 24, you can refer to this issue. and .NET framework 8.0.16 and 9.0.5 will add in next image rollout. Thank you.

Newest images for Windows 2022 and 2025 does not have the newest .NET release, as described in the blog post: https://devblogs.microsoft.com/dotnet/dotnet-and-dotnet-framework-may-2025-servicing-updates/

Reference in main branch for Windows 2025 (Same for Windows 2022): https://github.com/actions/runner-images/blob/main/images/windows/Windows2025-Readme.md Version is: 20250511.1.0

Please advice how you are seeing the latest updates in the main branch!?

Reference in main branch for Windows 2025 (Same for Windows 2022): https://github.com/actions/runner-images/blob/main/images/windows/Windows2025-Readme.md Version is: 20250511.1.0

Please advice how you are seeing the latest updates in the main branch!?

This Version 20250511.1.0 image is already upgraded with .NET versions. The .NET Framework 8.0.16 and 9.0.5 were released on May 13th, as noted in https://devblogs.microsoft.com/dotnet/dotnet-and-dotnet-framework-may-2025-servicing-updates/. Since our image(20250511.1.0) upgrade began before this release, the next image rollout will include versions 8.0.16 and 9.0.5.

I do believe that is why I started the issue in the first place. I was interested in 8.0.16 and 9.05, per reference in the link servicing updates for may 2025.

I acknowledge that the 20250511.1.0 image also includes updates, but that is still not the newest version from the .NET team. Does that make sense?

Any update on this issue? We have a security concern regarding missing patching of the framework.. It has been 8 days since the announcement, and I don't see "awaiting-deployment" as a solution, as I don't see any PRs representing this issue, nor do I see a new image deploying?

We would also like some time to test at our end, and would like to faster be able to deploy patching to support compliance, etc.!

Please advice on any timeline!?

Hi @cssatkmd, As I mentioned earlier, the versions will be updated after the new image rollout. You can expect this to happen sometime next week. I will inform you once it's done. Thank you for your understanding.
