Have you considered updating branding?
Excuse me if this sounds derisive, but I feel this project would benefit from some improved branding. The project has come a long way in terms of adding features and cleaning up issues, improving UX, etc. Something that hasn't really kept up is its identity. "OnlineGo" is rather generic and is easy to mistake for the backend it connects to. Same with the app icon, although at least it's on par with other go software.
I believe a little effort here would make more people aware of the project by distinguishing it from OGS, bring more people to download it, and potentially more contributors.
Let me be clear, I'm not the man for the job nor am I advocating for any designer, service, or direction. Just looking to stir up some discussion.

The reddit model of "
Hey, I agree with all points, but who can do it? So far, I did the marketing and icon design myself, as well as 99% of the coding. Thing is, I am a professional Android dev but I am not a professional marketing manager, copywriter nor UI/UX designer. Hence, the project is definitely going to suffer in those categories.
PS: I do like the idea of "for OnlineGo" (curious though what reddit has to do with it), I just need to come up with a catchy name that is discoverable to people searching for GO and Baduk as well...
The Reddit aspect of the name suggestion comes from a time when most Reddit API consuming apps would call themselves something that implied they were official. It's a copyright issue. They can have "for Reddit" in their name now, but are pretty restricted otherwise. Same principle could apply here for OGS.
"XXXX for OGS"
I feel like it needs to have "Go" in the name, since it's the first thinkg people search in the app store.

I personally think it is good to have some sort of personnification, throug animals (like the owl of duolingo) The game is japanese (chinese originaly), i tried to think about animals that make me think of this. Panda, Dragon, Tanuki, Godzilla, Red panda, crane bird, totoro
