This is very likely a bug in playerctl introduced in the last release. I'm looking into it now.
I just tested this again on current master branch and it works correctly. I think the way I was reproducing this before was wrong.
Can it be done without adding any dependencies?

Yeah, it needs documentation. I considered it too experimental to document for awhile, but now I consider it pretty stable.
If it doesn't show up in that list, there's no way I can interact with the player. Check your configuration and if you still think it's an issue, open it...
An update probably isn't going to solve that, it's likely an issue on the Firefox end.
@ffwng did the player change from one player to another with the same value of `playerName`? If so, that is the expected behavior.
I can't seem to reproduce this. I just played around a little with the command and it always does what I expect it to do. But maybe your expectations are...
