Re-investiagte using LIEF for binary modification

This was investigated previously, but wasn't possible due to how LIEF mutated / modified binaries. LIEF has recently undergone some fairly major rewrites / refactoring, so this may be worth looking at again. If it's still not possible, we could work out what we need to upstream to make this doable.

The reason doing this would be worthwhile is that are already using LIEF for our symbol / security checks, thus it is already available in our release environment. Making use of it would mean we can drop some dependencies here.
