Request for Kotlin Multiplatform Mobile (KMM) SDK

Open chris-wickens opened this issue 1 year ago • 4 comments

Hi Ably team,

I am a mobile developer who is currently exploring using Ably for realtime messaging in my app. I am particularly interested in using KMM to share code between my iOS and Android app, and was wondering if there are any plans to release a KMM client SDK for Ably in the future.

I understand that you currently support a number of other platforms, including Android and iOS native, Flutter, and React Native, but I believe a pure Kotlin client would be a valuable addition and would greatly simplify my development process.

If you have any updates or plans for a KMM client, please let me know.

Thank you for your time and for providing such a great service.

Best, Chris

Hey Chris, thanks for this feedback! While there are currently no plans for KMM support at this time, I will track this request (and as adoption of KMM grows, hopefully more requests like these will surface).

We’re always on the look out for new and emerging frameworks that enable cross-platform development. Like Flutter and React Native, this would be an interesting space for Ably to explore and enabling realtime experiences. We’ll definitely keep you updated if there are updates or plans for a KMM client. Thanks again for reaching out!
