I tried the standard brew install cmatrix but it seems not to be able to find it.

Just installed via brew and it worked for me (macOS Big Sur 11.6.8, Intel Core i9)

CMatrix works fine with brew for me (Ventura - 13.1) - is your brew up to date and also please check your internet connection perhaps?
