Ended up having to uninstall, delete the .lima directory and reinstall.

that got me 30 GB back...

Wish there was a way to do this..

Docker supports that

docker system df # see disk usage
docker system prune # delete images
docker system prune --help # more options

At the moment, you cannot reclaim used space on the host by freeing space on the guest. i.e. if 30GB is used on host, it will remain used on host even if you have only 5GB used on the guest after pruning docker images.

However, the usage on host would not increase as long as the usage on the guest is lesser.

This is also being tracked upstream https://github.com/lima-vm/lima/issues/356

Thanks @abiosoft

now I understand why it behaves this way .

For now I guess I have to delete the storage in colima folder when my SSD is full
