Expanding Information Base

Currently we have data for 606 politicians. We need to include data for other politicians as well, including the ones who are not elected.

We also need to include:

  • Track Record of the Politician including Past Elections, Competitors and Result etc.
  • Progress made by the Politician (if ever elected)

Also for major politicians (who have a twitter account) we can display their latest tweets.

I looked at data.gov.in for any relevent datasets. Found nothing interested and large enough for our use.

Attendance Stats Check monsoon session, as winter doesn't have data yet.

Just tried to print it (click the print button), and as I expected, it gave the complete (no pagination) results. So I can get complete results (2009-2013) for every person on that list. The mapping between this dataset and ours current one would be slightly harder, though. I could make it easier by just using constituency names, but then constituencies which changed hands during this 5 year interval would get extra attendance.

Should I get on it?

And [applause please]... FOUND IT! CLICK ME - Complete and quite exhaustive dataset of all our Lok Sabha Members with lots of details (hobbies, dob, marriage dates, permanenet addresses, phone numbers and more)

It should be quite an improvement on our current dataset. I'll keep looking for more.

For eg, http://india60.com/mps/profile/feroze-varun-gandhi ,we can get Education, Profession, Net Worth, (Cases pending in red), age etc. Also, when we thought of giving wiki links, we should probably link to their official profiles, http://164.100.47.132/LssNew/Members/Biography.aspx?mpsno=4277 for the above case.

india60 uses - loksabha.nic.in, myneta.info, and http://www.prsindia.org/mptrack
