Paragraphs in blockquotes split text

If you have this construction

<blockquote>
    <p>Paragraph 1</p>
    <p>Paragraph 2</p>
</blockquote>

html2text generates this output

> Paragraph 1

>

> Paragraph 2

This should not be, since the empty line between the paragraphs breaks the blockquote...
