Highlighting no longer works - ruby

I've been using this extension for a while but for the last couple of months it hasn't worked at all. I have tried all the updating, disabling, installing etc but to no avail. The only thing that seemed to work was disabling the ruby-lsp extension. Comments came back straight away but I cannot see why there is a conflict between these two extensions and I'm certain they have been installed together for sometime now (before seeing any issues)

I have the same issue and indeed it seems there's a correlation between comments not working and the ruby-lsp extension by Shopify.

The https://github.com/edwinhuish/better-comments-next worked for me, and I am using the ruby-lsp extension. But this current extension doesn't work.
