Tidy up README

The readme is missing how to drink potions, and it has a few typos. Also, we're not in undergrad anymore, so we can probably ditch the stuff about history, and maybe cheese up the backstory some more.

Also...if I do a pull request now will it be counted for hacktoberfest? Sorry, this is my first time attempting.

In the past I don't think pull requests made before October counted, so I would just wait until then to make the pull request. You should be able to make the changes on your fork now and then just make the pull request once HacktoberFest begins though.
