gsv

A simple tool to view the size of a Go compiled binary.

[!CAUTION] The GSV is currently being refactored for implementation in Golang. As part of this process, search functionality based on the pclntab table will be added, which will eliminate the need for debug information.

If you wish to view the code of the previous version, it is available on the 'rust' branch.

Usage

you can use gsv to analyze the binary:

Analysis golang compiled binary size

Usage: gsv [OPTIONS] <BINARY>

Arguments:
  <BINARY>  The binary to analysis

Options:
  -p, --port <PORT>  The port to listen on for web mode [default: 8888]
  -w, --web          View the result in the browser
  -h, --help         Print help

[!CAUTION]

The tool can work with stripped binaries, but for those built with cgo enabled, a symbol table is required. Otherwise, the results can be completely inaccurate.

The tool will display a warning message when it detects this situation. However, if you build the binary with static linking and cgo, it may be difficult to identify.

Example

Web mode

$ gsv --web golang-compiled-binary

Will start a web server on port 8888, you can view the result in your browser.

The web page will look like this:

You can click the darker part to see the detail, and click the top bar to return to the previous level.
