Add an option to switch mode when I'm in the wrong mode
I sometimes find myself trying to add something but then I get the warning: "Wrong mode, check for duplicates"
Trying to add a parking ticket vending machine while in the first mode is one such case.
Right now the UX is a bit frustrating:
- press plus
- confirm location
- select type
- -> now I see the warning... Usually this throws me off. Because of course I think I'm in the right mode , but now I'm doubting. Which mode am I? Which one is the right one? How many modes are there. Did I select the wrong thing?
- then I think about how to get out of this - all of this while I might already be walking away from the thing I'm trying to add
- I decide to go back, find the right mode and check
- tap back arrow
- -> now comes the cancellation dialog "Close editor" "Discard changes without saving"
- a bit more confusion - what did I change? Maybe I touched something inadvertently. I guess the "change" is the location and the type, but somehow I have a hard time calling this"change". Anyway, just to say, this gives me one more second of frustration. Yes, yes, take me out of here
- but now Im hesitant again. I'm stopping something, so intuitively I want to use the negative option, but no, I'm supposed to use the positive option: Yes, it's "OK" to discard the change. Might be that I actually tap the Cancel at first, so then I have to do the back&ok a second time
- now I see that actually I'm in the mode that I thought I should be in. But apparently that's not the right mode, so, ok, switch and do it all over
I think if the warning about the wrong mode would be rephrased and could be tapped to go to the right mode, this would be much nicer:
- plus
- location
- thing
- -> "Wrong mode. Switch to check for duplicates"
- tap on the warning
- I'm taken back to the main screen and it switches to the correct mode. No cancellation dialog.
- -> I'm a little surprised to find myself in this mode, but oh well, if this is where I am supposed to be, fine
- I immediately see that the thing is not there
- map is still in the same, correct spot, so no panning need
- plus
- confirm location
- find the thing again, maybe it could be ranked high up since it was "used" recently, so I just tap it, no typing needed
- finish as usual
