You can use this fork: https://github.com/snowxmas/pysoundtouch I was busy porting and had a semi-working version and then I started looking through the forks. Could have saved me a few hours......
Thank you for the extended example and the Cldr library. Of course they have the collations already :). I will close this issue and have a go at implementing it...

Thanks so much for this, I shorted A5 with B8 and it worked for me. B8 was connected to ground with a high (> 10k) resistor.
Of course it would be a lot of work to emulate ZMK to support all the features, so for a first version it could support layer switching and normal keypresses....
