Support for self-signed certificate
In my opinion, there should be option for accepting self-signed certificates - probably, plenty of us are using ZM for privacy reasons on self-hosted private small servers (without domain name, only IP). There is no simple way to get for free global trusted certificate for IP address.... Please look also at this thread: https://forums.zoneminder.com/viewtopic.php?t=32840
What exactly is not working here?
I ask because it works fine with a selfsigned cert on my server. You just need to have "Enable Strict SSL Checks" disabled.
I have the same option disabled. When I play the video via 'Scrub' button - it works fine.

You have got to be joking.
I have the same issue and have been chasing it for about 5 hours. The only clue is an error in the logs saying that it can't find the socket - which looks to be created and then destroyed pretty much immediately. I was assuming it was some sort of weird race condition. It never occurred to me that it would be an SSL issue because everything else is working perfectly.
Thank you for this insight. I'm going to verify this by setting up a Let's Encrypt cert on that box the next time I have a free block of time (which is likely going to be a week or two). Once I do so, I'll close the loop on this.
My last message was related to another bug (sorry for misinterpretation) - that I cannot play events - it's probably not related to the SSL (I hope so). The original bug is quite old, probably to be closed?
What is the other bug? As you can imagine, I am very interested in following it.
