Swapping PS1 discs/Multidisc games
Not sure if this is where I post this, if it isn't, I apologize.
How can I swap the ISO/Cue file for a PS1 game with disc 2? I know with games like FFVII it shouldn't be a issue, as you save the game at the end of the disc, and just boot disc 2 and load the save. However, games like BrainDead 13 require you to swap between disc 1 and disc 2 often and no save files are made to allow the 2nd disc to be booted and save loaded.
Thanks for your time! ~John
Some info about this issue:
Estwald added support for launching PS1 ISOs (cue+bin) to Iris Manager on (unofficial?) v1.50 (later merged with changes by D_Skywalk and "officially" released as v1.50.6). He added a way to change PS1 discs by detecting when a USB drive was removed and inserted into the console (when the game asked for a disc change). The games would be ordered alphanumerically, so if you had two games in the same folder "game1.bin" and "game2.bin", game1 would be launched first and game2 could be swapped to when a disc change was requested by the console. This feature is only present in Estwald's PS1 game launching procedure; launching through Cobra will not allow disc changes. Now, MGZ is based on Iris Manager, but I am not sure if this feature was carried over in the transition or not. In Irisman, if I remember correctly, the feature got carried over by default after Aldo forked it.
Something which is likely missing is the menu that would pop up when launching multi-disc games in Iris Manager. Iris allowed you to choose which game to launch first from the menu (though, I don't remember what triggered the menu).
I haven't tested mounting PS1 games with MGZ, but I am curious about whether the feature exists or not.
Edit: I still don''t understand exactly how the feature worked in Iris; Estwald mentioned something about mounting dev_BDVD, hdd0, and usbxxx in that order when changing discs, but maybe he was referring to the order of preference when mounting games.
