My understanding and explanation of that patch was quite off I believe. Regarding battery config, what about `CONFIG_GENERIC_ADC_BATTERY=m`? This isn't in the latest brunch_configs file.

Testing the latest brunch-unstable shows no change, battery still not detected :( I'll keep looking for configs. It is good that applesmc was added back though.
