Feature request: grouping

Expected result

It would be really nice if I could group the items in the gui [work]

I agree, and this is something we've actually thought about, but while it might seem simple at first it actually adds a bit of complexity for us as we have no way to store this information on the YubiKey. We might be able to find ways around this of course. Also, a lot of people are using both our desktop and mobile apps and the groups would have to be setup on both devices, and also for every new device.

Thanks for the suggestion though, it's always encouraging when others have the same ideas, I'll give it some more thought with no promises and see what we can do.

Ah I didn't know that was how it worked, maybe something can be done with the name field (not really nice of course but it's an idea). something like a seperator in the name field (a |, or indeed [groupname]).

Honestly, I think this feature would be amazing even if the groups didn't sync between different apps. I'd be more than happy to recreate my groups manually if that meant getting the feature at all. I imagine it would be fairly simple to implement if we forget the requirement to store grouping information on the yubikey itself.

Yubico Authenticator 6.0 has now been released and uses a new codebase. As such, this issue has been marked with the legacy label, and will be automatically closed in 7 days.
