Decrease position tracking time interval near airports/under 3000 ft

Hi, the current position tracking time interval is perfect for viewing routes (kml) on a continental scale but not adequate to represent routes at a local scale, near airports. Is it possible to lower the time interval (eg 1 second) near airports or under a certain flight altitude? Thanks
