openweathermap seems to need an account now... I will use an other source if I found one, else I will migrate to openweathermap API.

You could try "Ventusky" i dont know if they opensourced there api yet.

Ventusky is not opensource and not a WMS source. So I can't use it even if it is really good looking.

Free and Paid API are the same, only calls by minutes are limited.

I think it's the number of time the API is contacted.

Yes they seems to be the same now.

And if I disable the layers, they still stay on the map and reapply the API.

Each file is a call to the API, so if your zoom is far this call the API many times.

So it would be better to get the Startup or Developer API?

For openweathermap maybe. I didn't make any tests yet. I would like to find a free source.

A free possibility would of course be best, but I've also just looked for free API's but I've only found Trial version
