Make 'variant' a searchable field

Because the "variant" field is used to list the many ways a name can be written, and because we can't always list all the abridged forms as individual entries, should we perhaps change the "variant" field to a tag field and change the coding such that if anyone searches for any of the names in that field, it just brings them to the entry where it's listed? In the case where an a variant occurs in many names, the search result just brings back the list of all the entries where it exists. For instance searching for "Tope" will give us "Temitope", "Tiwatope", "Ifatope", etc.
