White screen in NC 13

Reader version: 1.2.3 Nextcloud version: 13.0.2 Only output after click on PDF or EPUB files is this well-known symbol: Please help!!!

All I get is a white screen now too, nothing works since 13.2 upgrade. Just upped to 13.4, still nothing

Worked fine in 13.02, upgrade to 13.04 broke it for me as well. Times out when apparently loading the file in the viewer. If I use the 'back button' of the browser (chrome latest stable on windows 10 and Ubuntu 17.10, Eventually I get a message which says: The page is taking too long to load, wait or continue.

If I do nothing the white screen just sits there. I can select any of the other menu items (calendar, contacts, music , etc..) without problem. However, the white screen is always the result of selecting an *.ep;ub file. Selecting a *.pdf file still works, though I know that is a different viewing extension, it should be noted that I use calibre to populate my ebooks directory on NextCloud, so there are multiple formats which might show up in the Library(Ebooks) directory.
