SIM card not supported?
I have installed modui on my ZTE Open C. I have a UK Giffgaff SIM Card, the system reports that the SIM card is in an "unknown state".
This might be because it's a UK card or it might be because it's Giffgaff - I dunno! Thankfully I made a backup before installing modui and the restored system is working fine with my card now.
I used both UK and US versions of the phone when I was testing the build, so it is proably a card-specific issue. Could you possibly try it with another card by any chance and report back? PS Glad you did not loose your data.
Unfortunately not, this is the only sim I have. I'll see if I can grab a free one from somewhere. Is there any information about the card I could give you in the meantime to see if we can get it working?
If you could just log everything while the phone boots up with adb logcat and post here - that would be great. In order to do that - you'll need to connect your phone via usb, then go to settings on the phone and in the developer section enable 'ADB and DevTools' (Shoul defaultd be enabled in modUI by)
Then while the phone is booting type adb logcat > log.txt
to pipe output to the file.
When the phone hung up - wait a couple minutes to make sure it is not going to boot up and kill logcat by pressing CTRL+C.
Then just attach that file here.
Thanks in advance! Let me know if you need any clarifications on this.
Happy to do it, I'll get on that later tonight!
As if by magic, it's sort of working. I reinstalled modui and I got a text message come through, and the network was correctly identified. However, I couldn't go online and the settings screen did still read "unknown SIM card state" so I couldn't access any options to get that working (I need to enter a specific APN etc). Also, when I restarted the phone, the card went missing completely again with no network access..
Here is the full output of logcat of a boot with no detected card, it's huge and I can't see much in there about sims, hopefully you can make more sense of it than I can! https://gist.github.com/Tea23/89802b05de4be976ae3c
Thanks! From a quick look seems like a few hardware fail during bootup.
I'll be looking deeper into it later today. Thanks again!
Glad I could help, let me know if there's any more info you'd like me to gather.
