Make the rivergate produce all 5 base metals
What if we make the Rivergate handle 3 (iron, nickel, and copper) and the bedrock ores handle 3 (iron, gold, tin)? we can also do 4. Then when we add more options it could be really cool because while you can still choose what you want to use, you'll have to use more than one way to get ores.
I like the idea of requiring more advanced machines to get a renewable source of gold. It's generally a mid-late game resource so this would feel balanced gameplay wise.
I think we have too many mining operations trying to fill the same role. We need to lay out all of the mining options (quarry, excavator, rivergate, orechid, bedrock ores...) and give each option specific pros and cons.
For that we should probably make a spreadsheet and have a serious Discord discussion.
Should pigmen even drop gold? I mean, farming gold this way is actually really stale and has been done a million times.
@Aerolfos: We have no other farms to be setup in the Nether no? And I at least think say Ethos pigfarms are amongst the most interesting farms
@PandaBoy444: Our ways to do mob farms are either the vanilla ways or the rf tools spawner which is interesting and complicated in other ways, ie you need rf which is complicated here, and you need some items that you'll have to automate separately.
@Aerolfos: Yeah, and by that I mean the vanilla farms are different from one another, and pigfarm is one of the most interesting types of vanilla farm
If we manage to make a kitchen sink pack that's balanced enough that hardcore modded players seriously consider vanilla farms, I think that's a win.
It's also worth noting that vanilla farms can be improved with mods. For example:
-
Gold XP farms can be improved by eating Quark's soul beads. This would increase the spawn rates.
-
Open blocks fans, conveyor belts, Botania flowers and the like can move mobs
-
Random Things lets you sort mobs by type
People probably wont be copying vanilla tutorials from YouTube.
