Having the exact same issue. Regardless of video the “something went wrong. Refresh the page” error appears after a minute of playback. I can start playing in the middle of a video but after a minute it’ll error out.

Attempted to:

  • Downgrade to an older YT version.
  • Use mobile data (so no DNS issues).
  • Attempted to use a VPN and without a VPN (to rule out potential connection issues).
  • Reinstall and reset.

Exact same problem each time which makes me think it’s likely the ad blocker as there’s a similar issue on desktops where it’ll pause buffering with a “interruptions?” message because an ad couldn’t be loaded.

Exact same problem happening for me, I am able to play shorts no problem, but all long format videos stop due to a playback error within the first minute.

Prior to the latest beta upgrade (5.2b2) everything was working fine; just in-case I deleted the app, side loaded it again, and the problem persists.

dayanch96 (YTLite creator) has a possible work-around. I'm in the process of testing it.

downgrade to 19.34.2, fixes the issue

Alternatively using incognito mode appears to fix the issue if you don’t want to wait a few hours. Workaround doesn’t work for me, unless I’m doing something wrong. Tried twice:

Log out, delete accounts from app Watch 3-5 5-8 min videos Wait 4 hours Logged in Error

Log out, delete accounts from app Watch 6 videos 10+ minutes long Wait overnight (8+ hours) Logged in Error

Incognito still works though

Setting video quality to 1080p (not 1080p60) on WiFi in youtube plus settings fixed the issue for me

Edit this doesn’t work anymore as of 8/16. Setting 720p and forcing vp9 sort of makes it work but you’ll often get long reloading loops (race condition?) and having vp9 for all breaks shorts
