Do you think this is a bug?

❌ No, I don't think this is a bug. I will explain below

My question

I think this is probably something that's my fault and not the app's fault, which is why I made this a question and not a bug.

I've been enjoying YTLitePlus for a few months now, but just yesterday I found that I am no longer able to install it. I'm using sideloadly, and it manages to go through all the signing & unpacking/repacking steps, but hitting installation it quits with an error that it can't find PlugIns/NotificationContentExtension.appex, which I checked and is indeed not in the ipa. Now, I'm not sure if it's supposed to be there and isn't or if it's been gone and something is broken on my end.

From my very limited iPhone app knowledge, I'm pretty sure this is happening because I installed iOS 18.1.1 and it's somehow being more rigorous about checking various dependencies between appex files?

Anyways, my question is: is this something that's because of my computer / my phone, and something that I can solve easily, or is this something that needs to be a bug? (also if it's something that I've done that I can solve, what should I do to solve that?)

Additional context

The actual error message is

Installation failed: 0 PackageInspectionFailed (Failed to load Info.plist from bundle at path /private/var/containers/Bundle/Application/71781308-D30B-4351-A5D0-E619DB80CE39/YouTube.app/PlugIns/NotificationContentExtension.appex; Extra info about "/private/var/containers/Bundle/Application/71781308-D30B-4351-A5D0-E619DB80CE39/YouTube.app/PlugIns/NotificationContentExtension.appex/Info.plist": Couldn't stat /private/var/containers/Bundle/Application/71781308-D30B-4351-A5D0-E619DB80CE39/YouTube.app/PlugIns/NotificationContentExtension.appex/Info.plist: No such file or directory)

I'm having the same issue. I'm unable to re-sign the app with sideloadly. The only thing that works is to do a complete re-install.

@mikirejf Are you able to re-sign it after the re-install?

AwesomeRedDragon avatar Dec 03 '24 18:12 AwesomeRedDragon

@AwesomeRedDragon I can't re-sign after a re-install. If I want it to work again, I have to re-install again. It takes a long time and therefore would much prefer just re-signing. I don't have any problems re-signing other apps.

I am also hitting this issue now, it's good to know that it's "fixed" by reinstalling, however that's incredibly inconvinient due to having to go through and set up all of the settings again(and oh boy, there are a lot of them)

Well, it just started working again for me. I did a reinstall 4 days ago, came back home today and the app refreshed automatically (I also tried manually, works too). Last version of sideloadly, on the last iOS/iPadOS version.

I was able to re-sign the app on my side as well. A few days ago I did a fresh install of the app. When the app expired, I connected the phone to my mac. There was a popup notifying me about a software update in regards to connecting a phone to the computer (?). I confirmed the update and later manually refreshed the app which went through without issues.
